‘The Batman had to come back, and I suppose he always will.’

In light of everything that happened in Aurora, Colorado last week, I thought I’d share the little warmth I found last night in the picture below of Christian Bale visiting one of the victims of last week’s horrific shooting, along with a link to Christopher Nolan’s sweet farewell note to Gotham City. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families, and it’s great to see Bale truly taking his role as the Caped Crusader beyond the screen.

Superheros, Minimalist-RGB Style

Check out these minimalist superhero posters via Complex.  The artist, Gidi Vigo, created the pieces using a Pantone color and its corresponding RGB code.

Weekend Wrap

Although I would love to wish everyone a Happy Monday, I find myself still wiping some tears after Kristen Wiig’s farewell early Sunday morning.  If you haven’t seen it yet, follow the link (and bring a box of tissues, or at least keep a tab open of Stefon for an immediate pick-me-up).  Now onto some headlines…

  • Color me fooled. Check out the latest creations from artist Sharon Moody via Complex and see if you aren’t tricked, too.
  • Wildly inappropriate humor with a dash of Donald Glover? Season Two of Girls looks like it’s addressing the ‘diversity’ issue in a totally awesome way.
  • And finally, check out a mash up of Batman: The Animated Series clips to–what else–the latest Dark Knight Rises trailer.

Take a Look at the new DC ‘Batman’

DC Comics released art from Batman #1 today via Vulture, which hits stands tomorrow. Check out the stills below. You can definitely tell Nolan’s take on the Caped Crusader came out before DC decided to go back to #1; the colors are a lot darker and Two Face looks insanely gooier than I remember. I’m digging it, though, and can’t wait to see what else Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have in store for Batman.

Throwback Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! The weekend is almost here, and hopefully these pop culture favorites of mine will makes those last few hours of the work week that much more bearable.

Movie: E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

E.T. The Extra TerrestrialI caught this movie on HBO tonight and my first thought was, “Damn! I haven’t seen this in a long time!” I then had flashbacks of what freaked me out about the film when I was a kid. Who knew an adult running around with a keychain–that he had to have stolen from a janitor–could still be scary?! Props to Steven Spielberg because that is no easy feat. The movie also has its funny moments to balance out these scarier ones, though, like E.T.’s multiple costume changes that include a drunk in flannel, a man in drag and the always understated Halloween costume, a sheet ghost. If you haven’t checked it out recently, go dust off your VHS copy of E.T. and hook up your VCR.

Song: “Everlong,” The Colour and the Shape by the Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters The Colour and the ShapeI’ve been a Foo fan for awhile, as this song has been my ringtone, the most-played song on my iPod, and on multiple mixed-CDs I made throughout middle school (cut to “Music 4 the Mind”–how did I have friends?). I heard the acoustic version of “Everlong” on the radio today and immediately thought of it for today’s throwback. I’m listening to the original song now while simultaneously Googling what I can about it. Fun fact: near the end of the song where Grohl’s words are seemingly indecipherable, the source materials for what he’s saying include a love letter, a technical manual, and a story about a studio technician’s father. Now you do the same and let me know what you find out.

Viral Clip:

I caught one of my favorite series of all time on TV tonight, too. Best opening sequence ever? YES.

Weekend Wrap

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a peaceful and relaxing weekend, and now let’s get to some headlines.

It was encouraging to see nearly every event in America pay tribute to 9/11 this weekend. I watched the ceremony held at Ground Zero on Sunday morning, and I was moved by the touching rendition of “Sound of Silence” by Paul Simon himself. You can watch the clip below.

As for other headlines, Justin Timberlake won for his most recent performance on SNL during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sept. 10 in Los Angeles (I wonder if he went on down to Liquorville to celebrate). Other winners included Gwyneth Paltrow for her guest role on Glee and Survivor’s Jeff Probst for best reality show host, according to Entertainment Weekly. I also caught the right meanest jokes of Charlie Sheen’s roast. My personal favorite? “You’re just like Bruce Willis — you were big in the 80s and now your old slot is being filled by Ashton Kutcher,” via Amy Schumer. You can read the rest of the list over at EW.

I also caught up on some new DKR news. Check out a video from the Los Angeles shoot below, via Total Film. It looks like a scene between Batman and Comissioner Gordon, but I can’t quite figure out what’s going on. A side note: I’m digging the basketball shorts on Christian Bale, although from the looks of what everyone else is wearing he must be freezing.

And just for kicks, my favorite part of last night’s True Blood finale? “I am so over Sookie and her stupid, fucking fairy vagina!” Me too, Pam, me too.

I Don’t Mean to be Catty But…

I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t know what Nolan was thinking on this one.  Check out a picture of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film.

What are your thoughts?  Are you feeling it, or are you wondering if she is just running late for a rave?  I’m going with the latter.  I think it would do her good.  Maybe she could pick up some thing to get her to relax a little more because she is looking way to up tight, too.

(P.S. I know I’m a little late on this one, but I just got back from vacation so steady posts should be coming back!)

Weekend Wrap

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a relaxing weekend.  I caught Crazy, Stupid, Love. this weekend and loved it!

As for this weekend’s headlines, there weren’t too many that caught my attention.  I got my fix of DKR news with new photos of Tom Hardy as Bane, via Total Film.  Needless to say, he looks AWESOME.

I got my Monday started off right, though, by indulging in this Jean-Ralphio mash-up (as if I need to defend a Jean-Ralphio mash-up).  I keep waiting for the day when he will roll up to my house in his pre-owned Acura Legend and take me to the club, where he will dagger me on the dance floor.
